Privacy notice

Petit Mokus respects your privacy. This notice explains what personal information we use when you use BabyNaming or Wishes, why we use it, and the choices available to you.

This notice covers BabyNaming and Wishes. It does not cover the Kids pages.

1. Who we are

Petit Mokus is run by the Petit Mokus team. For privacy questions or to exercise your data-protection rights, contact us at info@petitmokus.com.

2. Information we collect and use

The information we process depends on which features you use.

Account information

When you create or use an account, we process your first name, your email address and the authentication information needed to provide access to your account. Your password is stored only in hashed form by our sign-in service.

We use this information to sign you in, manage your account and send essential service messages, such as a password reset.

Information you save

We process information you choose to enter or save in our services, such as preferences, lists and other content.

We use this information to provide the features you request and make your saved content available to you.

BabyNaming information

When you use BabyNaming, we store your project: its name, your name lists, swipes, rankings, podium choices and shared decisions, with the time of each step. Your partner sees your first name, and sees your choices only when the game reveals them to both of you.

If you type your partner's email address, we use it once to send the invitation and keep only a masked hint while the invitation is waiting.

When you ask for the story of a name that has none yet, we send that name, and nothing about you, to Anthropic to write it. We record which names you asked for and when, to apply a daily limit.

Wishes information

When you use Wishes, we process the information needed to provide the features you use. This may include wish-list names, the child's first name or nickname, the occasion and its date, a message, cover and gift photos, gift ideas, prices, product links, delivery details, invitations and gift reservations.

Technical information

We process your IP address, your browser's name and version, the pages requested and the time of each request to operate the website, troubleshoot problems and protect against misuse. We also count, per account or per list, how often some actions are used, such as reading a shop link or reserving a gift, to apply limits.

Messages and support requests

If you contact us, we use your email address and the information in your message to respond and handle your request.

Analytics and signup attribution

We count visits with Vercel Web Analytics, without cookies. For each page view it receives the page address with every personal part removed, the website that sent you (without any page or search details), your approximate location (country, region and city), and your device type, operating system and browser. Vercel tells visitors apart with a code computed from your request, which it discards after 24 hours. We only see totals, never individual visitors.

When you create an account, we record where that visit came from, if the link you followed told us: short campaign tags and the name of the website that sent you, never a full address. We read this from the page address and the site your browser says sent you, without cookies. It is kept with your account. We also record which Petit Mokus product you signed up through and which you last used, so that your account opens in the right place.

We count clicks on shop links per day, shop and type of gift. These counts do not identify anyone.

3. Why we use your information

Depending on the activity, we rely on:

Performance of a contract to provide the account and service features you request.
Legitimate interests to operate and secure the service, prevent abuse, respond to enquiries, deliver invitations, and understand in aggregate how the services are used, where those interests are not overridden by your rights.
Consent for processing that requires your permission. You can withdraw consent at any time without affecting processing that took place before withdrawal.
Legal obligations where we must retain or disclose particular information.

4. Wishes: sharing, invitations and reservations

Shared wish lists

Wishes allows you to share information with other people. Information you share may be copied or retained by the people who receive it.

Invitations

If someone invites you to use Wishes, we receive your email address from the person sending the invitation. We use it to deliver and manage the invitation.

Information about other people

Please avoid adding unnecessary personal information about others to wish lists, invitations or other content.

5. Who receives your information

We use service providers to help operate Petit Mokus, including providers for hosting, data storage, authentication and email delivery:

Vercel: hosting and visitor statistics.
Supabase: database, file storage and sign-in.
Resend: delivery of account emails and invitations.
Anthropic: writing name stories. It receives only the name, nothing about you.

Information may also be disclosed where necessary to comply with a legal obligation or establish, exercise or defend legal claims.

Information you deliberately share through a product feature is made available according to that feature's sharing settings.

6. Where information is processed

BabyNaming and Wishes run on Vercel with servers in Frankfurt, and account, list and project data are stored with Supabase in Frankfurt. Vercel, Supabase, Resend and Anthropic are companies based in or with operations in the United States, so some information may be processed outside the European Economic Area.

7. Cookies and similar technologies

We use a sign-in cookie to keep you signed in, shared across Petit Mokus addresses, and a language cookie that remembers your language. Both are needed for what you ask of the service, so we do not ask for consent for them. We use no advertising cookies.

Visitor statistics and signup attribution use no cookies.

8. How long we keep information

We retain personal information for the periods needed for the purposes described in this notice, subject to applicable legal requirements. Our retention periods are:

Account information: Until your account is deleted.
Saved content and wish lists: Until you delete them or your account is deleted. Archived lists are kept until then.
Invitations and gift reservations: Wishes invitations and reservations, including cancelled ones, are kept with their list until it is deleted. BabyNaming invitation hints are deleted once an invitation is accepted or cancelled, or the next time an invitation changes after it expires.
Support messages: As long as needed to handle your request, unless we must keep them to meet a legal obligation or defend a claim.
Technical and security logs: Sign-in records stay with your session until it ends. Hosting logs expire automatically within a short period set by our providers.
Analytics and signup-attribution data: Signup attribution stays until your account is deleted. Statistics are kept only as totals.
Backup copies: Up to 7 days, after which they expire automatically.

We do not delete accounts for inactivity. To delete your account, email info@petitmokus.com. Deleting an account removes your profile, your wish lists and everything on them, and the BabyNaming projects you created, which also removes them for your partner. Reservations you made on someone else's list stay on that list, with the name and any email address you gave, until that list is deleted or you ask us to remove them. Gifts you added to someone else's list also stay, without any link to your account. Backup copies expire as described above.

9. Your privacy rights

Depending on the circumstances, you may have the right to:

Access the personal information we hold about you.
Correct inaccurate or incomplete information.
Request deletion of your information.
Request restriction of its use.
Object to processing based on legitimate interests.
Receive certain information in a portable format.
Withdraw consent where processing relies on consent.

We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request. We will request only information appropriate for that verification.

You can also complain to the Dutch Data Protection Authority, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens, or another competent data-protection authority.

10. Children’s information

Accounts are for adults: you must be at least 18 to create one.

Some features allow you to enter information about children. In Wishes, a list holds the child's first name or nickname, which is needed to present the list, along with anything else you add. Anyone you share the list with can see it. In BabyNaming, your lists hold the names you are considering. You can change or delete this information at any time by editing or deleting the list.

Please do not include sensitive or unnecessary information about a child in content that you share with other people.

11. Shop links

Links to external shops take you to services operated by other organisations. Their own privacy notices apply to information they collect.

12. Automated decisions

Petit Mokus does not make decisions based solely on automated processing that produce legal or similarly significant effects.

13. Changes to this notice

We may update this notice when our services or data practices change. The date at the top shows when it was last updated. Where required, we will notify you of significant changes.
